About Letterman White Consulting
Susan Letterman White, JD, MSc, founded LWC following a 20 year career as an employment law litigator and law firm managing partner, complemented by her Master of Science in Organization Development. Since its inception in 2008, LWC has partnered with government agencies, municipalities, and law firms to drive transformative outcomes. These projects have led to enhanced team performance, strategic planning, optimized business models, improved organizational structures and processes, and strengthened leadership effectiveness.
The LWC Approach
The LWC approach pairs our researched based consulting, coaching, and training methods with our clients’ knowledge about themselves, their teams, their organizations, and their challenges to set up a project for an effective outcome. Our practical solutions are consequences of the shifts in thinking, feelings, and actions of the people who do the work of organizations and teams. This cognitive approach is superimposed on a strategic planning process, consideration of different perspectives, and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
LWC Solutions
Our coaching, consulting, and training lead to solutions that include revenue increases, inefficiency decreases, shifts from being stuck to having implementable strategic plans, culture shifts, redesigned business or organization models, changes to roles and responsibilities, and noticeable improvements in communication, decision-making, leadership skills, leading meetings, and group and team dynamics,.
In 2024, the Massachusetts Flood Hazard Management Program embarked on a transformative journey to develop its inaugural strategic plan. Over three months, LWC collaborated closely with the FHMP team, led by Joy Duperault, CFM, Director/State NFIP Coordinator, leveraging the LWC strategic planning model. This collaboration resulted in the Strategic Plan for FY 2025 - FY 2027, which introduces a new Mission , Vision, Strategic Objectives, and Implementation Plans. This milestone marks a significant advancement in helping Massachusetts communities manage and mitigate flood risks effectively.
In 2022, LWC collaborated with the City of Worcester to develop a strategic plan aimed at enhancing workplace equity. Beginning with an equity audit, the data collected and analyzed led to the development of a comprehensive report and strategic plan, which included actionable recommendations for enacting meaningful and measurable changes. Based on our recommendations, City Manager Eric Batista took action, including continuing to work with us to establish an implementation plan for breaking down barriers to change, including the establishment of a disaggregate data collection system that will allow the City to measure its progress in diversifying the City workforce.
